Summary

The story follows a wealthy man named Li in Rajagrha who, desperate for an heir, turns to various deities without success. Eventually, he devotes himself to Buddhism, and his wife gives birth to two sons, whom he names Buddha-da and Sangha-da. Sangha-da grows up pious and desires to become a monk, but his older brother, Buddha-da, opposes this path. Buddha-da arranges a marriage for his brother, but Sangha-da remains resolute in his monastic pursuit.
