Notes: Japanese: Sanronshū; the school was a Buddhist philosophical school proposing the 中觀 'Middle Way' between the two extremes of eternalism and annihilationism, closely related to the 中觀派 Madhyamaka. The main treatises defining the philosophy of the school are 中論 mūlamadhyamakakārikā ”Fundamental Verses on the Middle Way”, 百論 ”Sata-sastra”, and 十二門論 ”Twelve Gate Treatise”. It is also one of the Eight Schools of Chinese Buddhism 八大宗派 (BL 'San Lun Zong', p. 772; FGDB '三論宗'; SH '三論宗', p. 76; Tzu Chuang 2012, p. 297; Warder 2000, pp. 354-400; Williams 2009, 63-83)
